The Swedish Radiation Safety Authority’s task is to protect people and the environment from the harmful effects of radiation. We ensure that those who conduct activities using radiation assume responsibility for reducing the risks that accompany it. We also give advice to the general public on how to protect themselves from radiation.
The Authority’s work is characterised by integrity, reliability and openness.
Integrity means that we uphold our independence and base our opinions on facts.
Reliability means that our work is conducted by employees who are competent, objective and impartial.
Openness means that we are transparent to the outside world: we clearly and actively provide information about our activities.
As the head of the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority, I believe that these are important prerequisites enabling the Authority to work efficiently to achieve a society safe from the effects of radiation.
